NEW ZEALAND MARKET REPORT

Summary

Market generally dearer.

Comment

Combined sale.  South Island offering 3,180 bales.  North Island offering 1,700 bales.

Selection consisted of 18% crossbred fleece good/average colour, 20% hogget fleece, good colour, 5% hogget second shear, 10% crossbred second shear, 50/100mm, good colour, 3% crossbred lambs, good/average colour, 7% halfbred, 11% merino, 25% associated oddments all descriptions and 1% miscellaneous types.

Against a small offering, crossbred fleece showed good support lifting slightly with the hoggets showing the biggest lift on the day particularly on the good style and more favourable lines.  Merino and finer halfbred prices were very erratic with some paying extreme prices to complete shipping orders.  This sale offering was the last of the year for the finer types.  The rest of the wool posted a modest 2% increase.
