AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment After another positive week where we saw good gains across a wide range of microns, there are a couple of very good highlights this week. 15 and 18 micron categories were the standouts showing 3.5 % increase in price which hopefully reflects a small spike in demand. The EMI compared to the same time […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT. Market difficult to maintain current levels for fleece wool, however the shining light today was skirting and carding types finishing in positive territory.  FLEECE All descriptions 1% easier..  SKIRTINGS FNF skirtings 1% dearer. Others Irregular. OPEN TOP All descriptions 1% dearer in a small selection.

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment By the numbers, a very small selling week with only Melbourne and Sydney selling. Volumes down, Aussie dollar remaining quite stable and lack of supply, all contributed to a dearer market this week. All types and descriptions finished in positive territory for the week. Led by RWS certified wool which carried the highest gains […]

FLEECE All best Euro spec/style wools well supported remaining firm. All China spec/style wools finished the day firm. SKIRTINGS Best FNF skirtings Par to 0.5% dearer.  Other wools unchanged.  OPEN […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment We generally talk about demand driving the market, however in today’s landscape of uncertainty it is supply driving the market in a period of low demand. With the country gripped by drought and flood, wool producers are stretched to limit to keep stock alive and provide food and fibre to the world markets. With […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Quite an interesting week, with currency volatility, poor style selection and grower resistance found the market retracting by 1.5%, which is much better than expected. What is affecting the market currently, Yield is a major factor with a large percentage of drought affected wools falling into the high 50’s to low 60’s, trying to […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT. Aussie dollar stronger, US dollar weaker and Chinese RMB stronger helped take the belly out of the market today.   FLEECE Better FNF European style and spec wools fully firm.  China style/spec wools 17.5 and finer 1.0% easier.  China style/spec wools 18-19.5mic firm, with pressure on lower VM and better yielding wools.  China style/spec wools […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Another very interesting week in the wool market. What factors are affecting the market currently? Currency, selection, drought & flood, volume, and of course demand. As we try to navigate our way through this difficult period, the market has remained reasonably resilient, supported by China with competitive tension between the indent buyers and the […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT. With the exception of 19.5-micron range today the market failed to maintain composure even with currency fluctuation and a lack of supply.   FLEECE Better style and strength least affected. All China style fleece par to 1% easier.  SKIRTINGS 18.5/19.5-micron FNF skirtings generally firm. All others 1% easier..  OPEN TOP 1% easier in a small […]
