AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The small national offering failed to stimulate the market. A generally poor-quality offering and limited trading activity restricted the market movement. In the end, while a little lower across the board, there was little real change over the week. The few better fine micron lines are still attracting reasonable competition. There won’t be many […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment With the softer close last week that was leading into a 55,000 bale wool sale, there was no doubt a small degree of caution prior to Tuesday’s sale. While prices were lower, we certainly didn’t see the market as volatile as some. AWEX reports had quite a correction on Tuesday. However, the supply of […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT Market a little dearer, on average, across the two centres. FLEECE Sydney generally very firm for all descriptions except for B fault fleece which were 1% dearer. The market tone improved as the sale unfolded. Melbourne generally 0.5 / 1.0 % dearer and strengthening as the sale progressed. SKIRTINGS Very firm OPEN TOP Unchanged

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Sales have opened for 2024 with a relatively large volume offering. The quality of the supply was varied with only limited quality superfine wool available. After sales finished 2023 on a soft tone, the market opened with a few regular buyers choosing to operate with caution. There were some varied opinions about the pending […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT Market relatively stable with limited change today. FLEECE All best European types were in sellers favour, harder to buy. 16.5/17.5 micron 0.5% dearer 18.0 / 19.5 micron unchanged 20.0 / 21.5 micron 0.5% easier SKIRTINGS Better light fault types 18.5 micron and finer 1% dearer, others firm. OPEN TOP All descriptions generally 0.5% dearer.

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Wool sales have finished on a very strong note with all merino categories dearer over the three-day series. The volume for sale was up on recent trends following the more positive market tone in the previous few sales. Growers were wanting to take advantage of this. The selection was, however, heavily focused on the […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The penultimate sale for 2023 has ended very positively. All types and descriptions came under strong buying pressure adding on to gains recorded in the previous few weeks. The finer wools were those most keenly sought after. The Chinese market is favoring the wools 16.5 to 18.5 micron as they appear good value while […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT Market dearer again but settled at the higher values. FLEECE 16.0 micron and finer 2% dearer Best Italian specification 17.0 / 18.0 a full 1% dearer and keenly sought after. All other average specification 0.5/1.0% dearer SKIRTINGS All descriptions 1% dearer. OPEN TOP 1% dearer.

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT Market dearer, despite strengthening Australian dollar. Mixed reports regarding general demand with some traders more optimistic than others. FLEECE All descriptions 1 to 2% dearer with 18.5 micron and finer most affected. SKIRTINGS All descriptions 1 to 2% dearer. OPEN TOP 1% dearer.
