AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Following on from the positive close the previous week, the market opened strongly. Reports of strong domestic demand in the Chinese market, perhaps driven by a large uniform order, has fueled interest. The local currency is erratic against the USD but the most positive outcome was the result of the sale on Wednesday. After […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The performance in the luxury end of the market, the sub 15.0 micron range, is well worth recognising. When compared to the same sale in November 2022, the 14.5 micron average price for good fleece wool is currently 5% higher in 2023. This, despite the general market negativity, has been quite a remarkable performance. […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment There was little change in the market but on average, prices were softer overall. The European market is not as positive as it was a couple of months ago. While supply is good for fine wool at the moment, we are seeing a reduction in the price gap between the very best and the […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The market isn’t showing any great indication to move either way. Prices seems to be relatively stable around this level. This is a good result considering the general lack of confidence. The shining lights are at either ends of the wool supply spectrum. The ultrafine types, sub 15.0 micron, and the crossbred types are […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

Others 15.5/16.0 micron 2% easier 16.5 to 19.5 micron unchanged 20.5 to 21.5 micron 1% dearer. SKIRTINGS Better skirtings up to […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment It seems the positivity coming out of the Nanging Wool Conference was not enough to keep the wool market from slipping gradually this week even with the late rally towards the close of the week. New season wool is starting to roll in and we are seeing some very impressive style and strength in […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment We are seeing some of the best quality superfine wool for many seasons being offered at the moment. The dryer conditions coming after the good summer and autumn is ideal for wool growing. The high tensile strength, low vegetable matter, good handle and ideal length will provide for some excellent performance in topmaking, spinning […]
