AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment We had a large superfine offering from New Zealand on sale in Melbourne this week. Initially, this might have influenced the easing in prices on 16.5 to 17.5 micron for similar Australian origin wool. However, the majority of the New Zealand offering was RWS certified and to a lesser extent, Authentico certified. However, these […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Australian auctions paused mid-week to recognise the Chinese New Year on Wednesday. The volume on offer was reduced a little with some brokers choosing not to offer big quantities while, potentially, buyer competition from China could have been impacted. The market, however, was positive. Prices were unchanged earlier in the week but gained strong […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The large offering was expected to put some downwards pressure on auction prices this week. The sales opened a little cautiously, but this could also have been related to the offering. The better types were keenly sought after right from the start and showed very little movement over the week. This is despite the […]

All types and descriptions were either very firm or trending upwards with widespread competition. This is despite not a lot of positive news around. There is no doubt that the limited volume on […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment There was little change in the market this week with most market indicators showing only minor adjustments. What’s most notable each week is that for the general Chinese best fleece quality (16.5 to 21.5 micron), the Sydney market continues to outperform similar types offered in Melbourne. No doubt it’s a supply and demand scenario […]
