EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT. A generally more positive market tone across all types. Sydney and Melbourne quotes move more in line. The Melbourne market was a little dearer than Sydney today.  FLEECE All better specification 16.0 to 18.0 micron a full 1% dearer with Italian interests dominating. 17.5 micron most affected. All other descriptions par to 0.5% dearer […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Unexpectedly the market closed in positive territory. Amidst the lack of demand we saw a shining light in the sub 15 micron wools attract keen competition with significant price incentives. Day 2 this week provided the market with an excellent style selection including high quality certified wool which the market has been starved of […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment We were pleased to see some good competition on the better 17.5/18.0 micron clips this week. Despite the lower market, these types were attracting better competition than the more average types. The sales that traditionally offer more fine wool are fast approaching. This week was one, but the supply was still very limited. Perhaps […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT. Market generally very firm with stronger interest from the Italian sector on the best 17.5/18.0 micron selection. The first of the New Zealand sales was held in Melbourne. 17% of that offering was passed in and the sale results were in line with the Australian market.  FLEECE Best style and specification 17.5/18.0 micron 1 […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment Sales have resumed this week following the three-week midyear recess. While prices were generally lower in local currency, considering the AUD/US exchange rate, the benchmark AWEX EMI was dearer over the week in USD terms. Better specification, lower VM types were more keenly sought after and least affected by the market movement. Buyers across […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The market closed on a very positive note. Buyer confidence was more widespread, and they competed stronger towards the close of the sale. All types and descriptions seemed to be in favour with buyers seemingly building inventory. Perhaps the realisation that we have just the one more sale prior to the three-week recess. Following […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment The general market trend continues to be soft. Despite this, the small pocket of positive news this week was the performance of the limited offering of good specification non mulesed types, suitable for the Italian market. The offering was not big, but these types held ground in terms of price, while other categories were […]

AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

Comment There was not much positive news to report from this week’s sale series. Volumes for sale were small, the supply variable and generally quite average in terms of quality. Traders continue to report of limited opportunity to sell. This is a reflection of this time of the year as well. It’s not the perfect […]

EASTERN AUSTRALIAN MARKET REPORT

COMMENT Some irregularities in fine wool today. Good types well supported but average and inferior types attracting less interest. FLEECE Best style and specification, suitable for the Italian market, generally unchanged to slightly easier. All China specification – 16.5 / 18.5 micron 2% easier 19.0 / 20.5 1% easier SKIRTINGS Generally, 1 to 1.5% easier […]
