Market generally firm, tending dearer.

Comment

South Island only offering 6,069 bales.  The selection consisted of 55% ewe fleece mainly average colour, but a small selection of good colour fleece, 75/150mm, 8% crossbred hogget fleece mainly average colour, 12% crossbred second shear good/average colour, 75mm +/-, 10% lambs, mainly good colour, 7% halfbred fleece average to poor style, 7% associated oddments and 1% miscellaneous types.  Very strong competition on a reduced offering.  Indian sub-continent and China main, with good support from Europe, the United Kingdom and local carpet mills.

Good colour crossbred ewe/hogget fleece sellers favour.

Poorer style crossbred fleece firm.

Shears

Good colour crossbred shears 2% dearer.

Poorer style crossbred shears firm.

Lambs

New season lambs all descriptions firm to sellers favour.

Oddments

Carding oddments firm.

Combing oddments back 5%.
